Self-Advocate
Liana is a bright and determined student who enjoys the company of her friends and family, community outings, and participating in her hobbies. She enjoys swimming, painting, music, and Disney. Those who know her often say that she has an amazing personality and determination to inspire anyone she comes across. Liana is also an advocate who is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She understands the importance of assistive technology, advocacy, and inclusion. She also communicates using an eye gaze device. Despite the challenges she faces, she actively participates in school activities and enjoys engaging with her peers. Liana is passionate about inclusion and advocates for herself alongside her family, ensuring that her voice is heard and her needs are met. Liana and her family have also advocated for classroom inclusion and education on mobility disorders to broaden the community’s perspective on the importance of equal access to inclusion. Her positive attitude and resilience inspire those around her, as she works to create a more inclusive and understanding environment for everyone. Through her journey, she demonstrates the power of self-advocacy and the importance of being seen and heard.
Liana's mom, Mary, fiercely advocates for her and others with disabilities to have equal rights and access to the support they need to be self-determined and live the life of their dreams.
